Prevent "Parroting" Answers

Our aim as teachers should be to draw out authentic answers from our students. This can be difficult because many students have years of practice just copying answers from their peers. Adults do this too; we "parrot" what another person has said. Often, students will restate an idea or response from a classmate, rather than producing their own. Use the strategies included in the video to help all students produce original answers.
