Give Directions From Your "Perch"
Giving effective directions is fundamental to a successful classroom. One way to train the brain to receive directions is to always give directions from the same spot. It's a little Pavlovian, but giving directions from the same spot each time acts as cue for our brains to pay attention. When students see you squared up on your perch, their brains will anticipate that directions are coming and prep you to concentrate and focus on what is to come.
